Norcube MCP server for AI agents

Let Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and ChatGPT work with your Norcube account: back up a database before a risky deploy, or check whether a domain is actually free. One URL, a browser sign-in, no API keys.

What your agent can do with Norcube

Every tool calls the same API as the Norcube dashboard. Your agent gets the result; Norcube keeps the rules.

Back up a database, then prove it restores

Your agent finds the right database, starts a backup and waits until it succeeds, so there's a fresh restore point before every migration. It can also test-restore a backup into a throwaway database to prove it works. It never reads or changes your data.

Check domains live, not from memory

A real DNS, RDAP and WHOIS lookup instead of a model guessing from old training data. One name or a whole list, plus your saved domains, brand-monitor hits and AI-generated names.

Domain availability MCP

Always in the right organization

Connect one organization and every tool uses it. Connect several and the agent has to name one on every call, so nothing happens in the wrong place.

Permissions

You decide what your agent may do

Connecting opens a Norcube sign-in in your browser. You pick the organization and select what the agent may do; every call then runs as you, through the same permission checks as the dashboard.

  • Only permissions your role has are offered
  • Running backups and restore checks stays off until you select it
  • No API keys or passwords reach the AI client
  • Change or revoke it in Connected apps, effective on the next call
How permissions work

Connect your AI client

Pick your client. Setup takes about two minutes, and every client uses the same server URL.

  1. 1

Add the Norcube MCP server. It's then available in every project:

claude mcp add --transport http norcube https://mcp.norcube.com/mcp
  2. 2

Or add it to one repository only. Claude Code writes it to .mcp.json, so each repository can connect to its own organization:

claude mcp add --transport http --scope project norcube https://mcp.norcube.com/mcp
  3. 3

Run /mcp in Claude Code, choose norcube and sign in. Your browser opens the Norcube consent screen.

  4. 4

Pick the organization and permissions, approve, and ask Claude Code to list your Backup databases.

Common questions

What is an MCP server?
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI applications call external tools. An MCP server describes its tools, and clients such as Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and ChatGPT let the model call them during a conversation. The Norcube MCP server is a remote MCP server: you connect to a URL, there is nothing to install or host.
Does it cost extra?
No. Usage is billed exactly like the dashboard. Domain checks are metered at the normal DomainRadar rates (see DomainRadar pricing), backups the agent runs count against your Backup plan just like a click on Run backup now, and organizations with an unpaid balance are blocked the same way everywhere.
Is it safe to give an AI agent access?
The agent never sees your password and never gets an API key. You sign in through Norcube Auth (OAuth 2.1), choose what it may do, and every call goes through your own Norcube permissions. Starting a backup or a restore check each needs its own permission, which is off unless you select it. You can narrow or revoke the connection at any time in Account settings → Connected apps. Read more about our security model.
Can the agent read or change my database?
No. The Backup tools list your databases and backup history, start backups and restore checks, and report their status. There is no tool that runs queries, reads table contents or downloads a backup.
Which organization does it act on?
The one you pick on the consent screen. If you approve a single organization (the default), every tool uses it automatically. If you approve several, tools take an organization argument and the agent has to name one. In Claude Code you can add the server with --scope project so each repository connects to its own organization.
Can the agent restore a backup?
Not into your database. It can run a restore check, which restores a backup into a throwaway database to prove it works and then discards it. Real restores can overwrite data, so they stay in the dashboard and the CLI.
Which products are covered?
Backup and DomainRadar, plus account and organization lookups. Other Norcube products aren't available through MCP yet. Track what comes next on the public roadmap.
